I wasn’t sure it was ever going to happen. I thought my retirement one day would come first. Now the battle with the airlines will start for our business. I bet a reversal for commissions and direct discounts will ensue. It may not be from Southwest, but I bet those legacy carriers want to make sure they don’t lose your business. They now have to compete with no baggage fees and the ease for agents to access what was a terrible direct booking process, and cumbersome. Now multi city reservations are at your fingertip.

    Let the games begin.

This article infers that Southwest Airlines has never been in a GDS
I wish to remind you that Southwest Airlines & SABRE signed a 7 year GDS agreement in May 2005
which replaced a GDS contract signed in 1998.
