Hong Kong Disneyland will receive $1.4 billion in improvements, including the addition of a land dedicated to the 2013 animated feature film “Frozen.”
The Hong Kong government will fund $750 million of the improvements, while Disney will fund $650 million.
The 11-year-old theme park will upgrade its Castle and Hub area while adding a Marvel-themed area. Additionally, Disney and the Hong Kong government will build an entertainment venue called Moana’s Village Festival in the 310-acre theme park on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island.
The expansion will take place over a “multi-year” period, Disney said on Tuesday, though the company wasn’t more specific.
Hong Kong Disneyland is preparing to open Iron Man Experience, its first Marvel-themed ride, in January.
The 750-room Disney Explorer’s Lodge, the resort’s third hotel, will open by June.
