National Treasury has confirmed the appointment of Boston-based management consulting firm, Bain & Company, and South African consulting and advisory firm, Abacus Advisory, to advise on SAA’s future strategy.
The two companies have been appointed for a three-month period.
The appointment of Bain and Abacus Advisory follows Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan’s comments in Parliament in September that SAA needed to scale back its operations. Minister of Public Enterprises, Lynne Brown, announced last month that government was looking for a private equity partner for the airline.
