Yucatan, Chiapas and Campeche in Instagram photos

Mexico is an enormous country, and a road trip around the entire thing would take more time than we had on our last trip there. So, we sadly had to limit our journey to the Yucatan Peninsula. Well, more or less — we also headed to Chiapas and Campeche.

Chichen Itzá

Exciting day today! We visited Chichen Itza, a ruined Mayan city that's one of the new seven wonders of the world. It's awesome.

Izamal

As well as going to Chichen Itza yesterday, we also visited Izamal, the yellow city. And it really is yellow!

Mérida

Today, we spent the afternoon exploring Mérida's ridiculously colourful streets. Tonight there's more music in the main square!

Uxmal

Another day, another Mayan ruin! Today we visited Uxmal, which is considered one of the most important Mayan archaeological sites in Mexico.

A highlight of our trip to Palenque ruins was our jungle tour: the guide took us around some of the many many unexplored ruins of the site, and we saw this Mayan swimming pool. We also went exploring through the aqueduct — so cool!
