If you’ve visited Puerto Rico, you know that, for the most part, it’s necessary to drive quite a bit to get around (or else take taxis, Uber or public transportation). But a new pedestrian trail has brought new options for travelers looking to enjoy the area around Old San Juan by foot or while cycling.
Paseo Puerta de Tierra, as the trail is called, provides wide-open views of the open spaces from the area called Puerta de Tierra to Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Opened in 2016, the route is friendly for walkers, joggers and bikers. So you can easily enjoy the view and not worry about the sometimes-heavy vehicular traffic that clogs the streets leading into Old San Juan.
That’s especially good news for the Caribe Hilton, one of San Juan’s grande-dame hotels. The Puerto Rico hotel is celebrating the opening of Paseo Puerta de Tierra, which connects the property to Old San Juan, with a special “Walk This Way” kit — a package filled with bottled water, sunscreen, a map of the trail and noteworthy photo stops, and even a mini instant camera to snap some of your own memories during the stroll.
“Caribe Hilton’s location at the base of the Paseo de Tierra trail is ideal for that immersion, and our Walk This Way kit provides all the tools our guests need for a truly memorable stroll to Old San Juan,” said Pablo Torres, the Caribe Hilton’s general manager.
Walk This Way kits can be reserved in advance by calling the hotel’s reservation number at 787-721-0303 or by visiting the website; the kits are available for $19.99 on a first-come, first-served basis.
