Where to watch each nation in London during EURO 2016
While the majority of the pubs will be showing the England games as a minimum, if you want to support your own team in the championship, here are the places to find fellow fans.
- WALES: The London Welsh Centre in Clerkenwell usually specialise in rugby matches, but as it’s Wales first time in 50 years in a major football tournament – they’re putting on some special screenings (157-163 Gray’s Inn Road London WC1X 8UE).
- NORTHERN IRELAND: Fans should head to Covent Garden and Philomena’s bar, which built a big reputation during the qualifiers (Great Queen Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2B 5AA)
- REPUBLIC OF IRELAND: The Coach & Horses in Clapham is a good place to start, as is The Auld Shillelagh in Stoke Newington. Of course there are plenty of “Irish pubs” showing the games, so somewhere like the cavernous Waxy O’Connors in Soho could be a good central place.
- CZECH REPUBLIC: West Hampstead has a Czech & Slovak Bar & Restaurant, and they have big screens to watch the games (You can of course also watch SLOVAKIA). If you’re just feeling homesick for traditional Czech food and beer, then Bar Prague, in either Islington or Shoreditch could be a goer.
- GERMANY: We’ve already mentioned the Bavarian Beerhouse (see no. 8) and Bierschenke in Liverpool Street are also putting on games (although they’re closed for Germany v Ukraine), however Yager Bar in St Paul’s is one of the best places to go to watch the games. They’ve got 12 screens to watch.
- FRANCE: You can also head to Yager Bar (as mentioned in above) as this is going to be a hub for fans of Les Bleus.
- ITALY: Bar Italia is probably the most famous bar for the football, with fans spilling out into the streets of Soho post-match.
- POLAND: Got to Balham as the White Eagle Club will be showing all of Poland’s games.
- SPAIN: Cafe Kick and Tapas Revolution are good places to start.
