A trendy Montreal-style bagel shop that sells much more than just bagels, although they are really, really good. The gazpacho and salads are great if you’re a little more health-conscious, although they do great hot-dogs too. Great desserts and homemade Lemon water add to an already great menu.

A trendy tapas bar located not far from Notre Dame du Mont Metro, they serve original tapas at good prices in trendy, minimal surroundings. Try the lollypops made from a tapenade of tomato confit, unusual yet delicious!
Oscar’s Bagels & Sandwiches

Awesome bagels and more at this local favourite. They’re big enough to fill you for hours of sightseeing but if you fancy something more then try the meal deal for 8.50 euro in which you get a bagel, a drink and a dessert. The chicken avocado bagel and the cheesecake are a must.

Specialising in local products including soap, knives and gastronomic delicacies. You can swing by to browse what’s on offer then grab a drink and sit outside to watch the city go by. They also make great, original sandwiches on freshly baked baguette bread.
Glacier Vanille Noire

Amazing artisanal ice cream place selling all the classics as well as some more unusual options including olive oil frozen yoghurt and an ice cream made from biological raw milk. This could be the best in the city, ideal on a hot Mediterranean afternoon.
Restaurant Chez Michel

One of the best places to come in the city for a classic Bouillabaisse, the now legendary seafood soup of Marseille. It’s a little expensive but you’re going to have one of the best, freshest seafood experiences you can find anywhere in the Mediterranean. Put on something fancy and come here for a romantic meal or just to experience the excellent local cuisine.
Le Cafe des Epices

Bistro near Le Panier district serving Mediterranean inspired dishes. There’s a lot of fresh fish on the menu, ideal for a taste of Marseille. Chef Arnaud Carton de Grammont mixes the classic with his own creative urges to create special food. There’s a chalk board menu that changes daily.

Located on the top floor of the MuCem, this place does Mediterranean inspired cuisine with a flash of creativity. The decor is sleek and modern and the location of the place means the views are truly spectacular. Take a fish dish with a glass of Rosé de Provence and you’ll be in heaven.

A Michelin-starred place on the Vieux-Port, the chef here featured on the TV show ‘Top Chef France.’ Specialising in local dishes using classic Provençal vegetables and local fish, this is sure to be a winner for anybody seeking some luxury during their time in Marseille. Enjoy the fantastic views across the port whilst eating some of the regions best produce.

People in Marseille know a good pizza, so it’s a pretty big deal when there’s one place that’s said to be better than all the rest. This is an informal and relaxed restaurant that also serves rotisserie chicken but it’s the pizza that everyone comes for. Sit outside and enjoy some wine before tucking to a goats cheese and honey creation, or simply stick to the classic Margherita, either way you’re onto a winner. Crispy, thin dough and high quality toppings abound at this local institution.

Trendy but informal falafel joint near Vieux-Port. They also serve grilled meats and middle-eastern classics like hummus, too. A good option for vegetarians in this city where seemingly everybody eats fish!
