Cascade Country Manor in the Western Cape is the most recent establishment to become Fair Trade Tourism (FTT) certified.
The property has demonstrated commitment to sustainability and is invested in the local communities of Paarl. The management team apply strict environmental disciplines, including waste and water recycling initiatives, and reduce energy consumption as far as possible. Fresh produce is grown on the property with the aim of supplying all fresh produce needs from the garden.
FTT Managing Director, Jane Edge, said Cascade Country Manor had joined a growing list of certified businesses in the Western Cape, which had undoubtedly become South Africa’s responsible tourism capital. “Our overall portfolio now encompasses nearly 200 best-practice tourism businesses in Africa.”
Cascade Country Manor, owned by Maika and Volker Goetze, has 15 rooms and the grounds have 900 olive trees and a waterfall. The property offers a range of activities, including mountain biking, hiking, wine-tasting tours and spa facilities.
