I cannot say that the Scandic Continental Hotel is my favorite hotel in Stockholm because I only have been to Stockholm once. But, I am sure that even after I stay at other hotels in my future visits, the Scandic Continental will be one of my favorites.

The hotel is well designed, clean and very functional. The Capital, the rooftop bar, is a cool happening place. Check it out weekend nights! Learn more about the Scandic Continental on TripAdvisor here.

The Scandic Continental is a cash free zone, meaning they don’t accept cash for anything (Sweden is trying to become a cashless society). Use your credit card to pay for anything you may need, like excellent coffee and cinnamon buns.

The rooms are well appointed, functional and comfortable. The bed had separate duvets which I like. Very good mattresses and pillows too. Originally, I booked a small room without windows, but once I arrived the friendly front desk woman suggested I upgrade to a room with a view for an extra 20 or 30 Krona (approx $6 CAD $3.60 USD). So I did and I’m glad. It was great to have a view of Stockholm. I also had a desk where I could work on my laptop (Wi-Fi works very well).

In keeping with Swedish efficiency and panache for design, instead of a closet, the room has a system of hooks and rails to hang your clothes. Great use of space.

I have learned that Scandic is the largest Nordic hotel operator with 230 hotels in seven countries. Clearly they know what they’re doing. Staff wise, I can say that the staff at the Scandic Continental were very friendly and helpful during my stay.

Room rates are very good, in my opinion. For a hotel of this quality, I found the rates more affordable than Toronto’s or Vancouver’s for example, let alone Paris or London.
If you’ve read my other Stockholm posts, you may conclude, I really like Stockholm. It’s love actually here. I’m in a honeymoon phase, so-to-speak. I hope to go back within a year or two. And stay tuned for more Stockholm blog posts (come back and search “Stockholm” in the box on the upper right of the blog).
Stockholm is an amazing city. I am extremely surprised it’s not more world famous than it is. I highly recommend a vacation there in the summer. Haven’t experienced a winter visit, but I’m working on it.
Safe travels
