Palm Springs has welcomed the opening of boutique hotel Villa Royale, a historic part of the city’s Hollywood Hideaway legacy.
Featuring 38 beautifully decorated rooms and villas, the design of which pay homage to the city’s history, three outdoor pools with stunning mountain views and the brand-new Del Rey restaurant, Villa Royale has been beautifully restored and redesigned to enhance Palm Springs’ hideaway hotel offering.
Originally built in 1947, Villa Royale was a popular hideaway for Hollywood’s stars looking to retreat to Palm Springs for some rest and relaxation.
Now Villa Royale has been redesigned into an adults-only hotel that channels mid-century design with a modern twist.
The Mission-Revival style villas feature custom-made mahogany woodwork, Portuguese and Moroccan tiling, as well as locally-sourced mid-century furniture, creating a modern getaway fit for the A-list.
Art plays a big part in Villa Royale’s design and the hotel is home to over 50 original oil paintings of pop culture icons, desert landscapes and classic cars.
The hotel specially commissioned three artists, Juana Casas, Lou Kregal and Sara Radovanoich to create these pieces and bring to life its Hollywood heritage.
Villa Royale’s Del Rey, with its vintage booths, twelve-seat oak and marble bar, and outdoor patio, is perfect for relaxing with a cocktail and good food.
Diners will find the intimate bar and eatery serves up a playful menu of tapas-style dishes, which are inspired by Spanish and Mediterranean flavours and perfectly complemented by Del Rey’s range of local wines and refined cocktails.
Sprawled across three and a half stunning acres, the private grounds, vibrant rooms and relaxing pools at Villa Royale offer all the luxuries required for a truly Palm Springs-style retreat.
