The Freemyer family of Sweetser, Ind., will enjoy a Disney cruise in Alaska and a stay in a Vancouver treehouse when they take a trip planned by an ASTA Verified Travel Advisor this May.
The Freemyers won ASTA’s Vacation Do Over contest last year. The Society asked travelers to submit videos detailing vacations gone wrong for a chance to win a trip valued up to $10,000 that would be planned by an advisor.
The Freemyers won with the tale of their honeymoon gone wrong some 12 years ago.
ASTA then selected travel advisor Kathy Kocharhook, founder and CEO of Sail-N-Travel in San Jose, Calif., as the advisor to plan the Freemyers’ trip.
Kocharhook recently sent a box full of surprises to the Freemyers — Dan and Stephanie and their young sons Tait and Lucan. In addition to the trip reveal, the box contained binoculars, a GoPro camera, kids’ travel journals, a blanket and Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears.
In addition to the cruise, the Freemyers will enjoy a stay in a treehouse — a callback to part of their original honeymoon.
In a video call with the Freemyers, Kocharhook said, “I know how important it was to make sure that you had a special experience that included a treehouse, and now you get to experience it with the boys.”
Dan Freemyer said, “We are truly amazed at what a travel advisor can do, because we never would have dreamed about a trip like this.”
