This is how a part of Centre Island should normally look like. |
The City of Toronto announced a couple of days ago that the Toronto Islands will continue to be inaccessible to the general public until at least July 31. Unfortunately, this year water levels of Lake Ontario have been at all time highs and rainfall has been record breaking in the Greater Toronto Area.
As of this writing, up to 40% of the Toronto Islands are under water, and many of the inland beaches around Toronto are also flooded. Ironic that this is happening when the United States announced its withdrawal from the Paris accord on Climate Change (sigh).
