Two new Wyndham hotels set for South Korea’s emerging tourism hubs Wyndham Hotel Group will open two new hotels in South Korea, further expanding the presence of its globally recognised Days Inn and Ramada brands while catering to the growing needs of two of the country’s rapidly expanding tourism hubs: Incheon and Dongtan.
Part of an ongoing effort by the global hotel powerhouse to expand its key brands across South East Asia, Ramada Incheon and Days Hotel Dongtan will add 361 rooms to the group’s portfolio in South Korea, boosting its presence in the country to 2,891 rooms. Both hotels are franchises with hotel owners Sorae Hotel AMC and YT Partners respectively.
President and Managing Director of Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim, Barry Robinson, said South Korea had been earmarked as a key growth region for Wyndham Hotel Group, considering tourism to the country was on the rise and tourism expenditure increased by about 9.3 per cent in 2015 to an estimated spend of USD$21,271,800 from USDcopy9,469,900 the previous year.
Wyndham Hotel Group currently has 26 new hotels under construction in the development pipeline, including 17 Ramada, six Days Inn and three Howard Johnson hotels located across South Korea.
“The cities of Incheon and Dongtan, Hwaseong, in particular, are undergoing continuous development of real estate and transportation networks and we see them as being extremely valuable to our growth in key tourism destinations for both business and leisure,” Mr Robinson said.
The 245-room Ramada Incheon offers a traditional Korean style of accommodation in the hotel’s five Ondol rooms, which feature under-floor heating believed to have healing powers, as well as five children’s themed suites.
Facilities include an all-day buffet restaurant, sky lounge and bar, fitness centre, VIP lounge, rooftop spa and whirlpool hot tubs as well as a grand ballroom, which is Incheon’s first European-styled wedding hall. Ramada Incheon is located across from the Soraepogu station.
It is also a 15-minute drive from the Songdo Business District and a 30-minute drive to Incheon International Airport.
The 116-room Days Hotel Dongtan features a selection of comfortable hotel room and suite options and facilities include a buffet restaurant, café, fitness centre, self-service laundry room and a meeting room.
Other services include 24-hour reception and currency exchange.
The hotel enjoys close proximity to the Samsung Electronics Nano City and will be a drawcard for business travellers with its complimentary shuttle services to the business hub.
