Turkish Airlines has launched direct flights from London Gatwick to Ankara.
The flights operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays
In the heart of Turkey, Ankara is a hub for the performing arts; the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, several national theatre companies and the home to the State Opera and Ballet.
The flagship airline is the only one to offer direct flights to Turkey’s second largest city and to celebrate the inaugural flight Turkish ambassador, Ümit Yalçın, joined Turkish Airlines crew at London Gatwick Airport.
Celal Baykal, Turkish Airlines general manager in London, said: “Today marks an important day in Turkish Airlines’ history here in the UK, as we commence flights to our capital city Ankara.
“This new route is being launched in direct response to increased demand from our customers across the country, and is further evidence of our commitment to exceeding passenger needs.
“We look forward to welcoming people from across the UK on our new route and keeping widen their world with Turkish Airlines.”
Turkish Airlines services five UK airports including London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester.
