If you’ve had a look through this blog you’ll know I’ve written about Australia a lot. It’s a country I’ve visited several times and with good reason – I love the diverse landscape, the sunshine and the opportunity to see so many awesome natural wonders.
When to Fly
When it comes to airfares, apparently Edinburgh is the cheapest departure airport and the best time to book is January, when flights are 12% cheaper than any other month. Make sure you book early though, as flights are 50% cheaper when you book 5 months ahead, not two.
If you fancy flying at the front of the cabin in business class then you’ll be pleased to know that prices are 10% less than in 2016 and premium is 34% less than in 2016!
Most popular stopovers include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Hong Kong, but soon Qantas will offer non-stop flights from London to Perth in just 17 hours, making it easier than ever to fly Down Under.
Once you’re there
Flight Centre customers spend an average of 12 days in Australia, which makes sense since it would be pretty exhausting to visit for a weekend. It’s possible to fly to up to 46 destinations once you’re there, and 30% of holidaymakers visit at least 2 destinations. It seems the Gold Coast is particularly popular, with flights up 1,140%.
Oh, and if your name is Susan or David – apparently you’ll be more likely to visit Australia than anyone else!
