It’s official. London is the best city in the world for food, according to the London Evening Standard. And the newspaper are declaring June to be London Food Month to celebrate.
But, pretty much any weekend in the summer, you’re sure to find a great food festival happening somewhere in town. Here’s our pick of London’s best food festivals in 2017.

London Food Month Night Market
The centrepoint of London Evening Standard Food Month. The Night Market will take place over 12 nights in Perks Field Kensington. There’ll be 50 stalls, representing the city’s top chefs and restaurants, as well as its favourite street food vendors and future stars. This will all be soundtracked by live music and DJ sets. And there’ll also be an open-air cinema, screening recent blockbusters and foodie movies.

Westfield Food Truck Festivals
London Food Month also brings two street food festivals to the city’s Westfield shopping centres. The Food Truck Festival will take place at Westfield London in the first weekend in June, and Westfield Stratford City three weeks later. The festival will feature an international selection of cuisines served outside each centre. And some of the Wesfield’s big name restaurants will also take part, offering exclusive one-off dishes.

Taste of London

Taking place in the attractive surroundings of Regent’s Park, Taste of London showcases London’s most exclusive restaurants. There’ll be talks and demonstrations from TV chefs and Michelin-star winners. 40 of the city’s best restaurants will be offering samples of their menus – including their most famous dishes. And you can also enjoy live music, and pick up supplies from the extensive food market.

Foodies Festival
Popping up around the city over the summer, the Foodies Festival can be found in three of London’s most picturesque locations – Blackheath, Syon Park and Alexandra Palace. Each edition of the festival will have its own line-up, but you’ll find a tempting line-up at each one. Among the special guests are Great British Bake-Off winner Candice Brown and Deliciously Ella’s Ella Woodward. Combining traditional treats with healthy living, the festival will include a Cake and Bake theatre, artisan market and a music stage.

The London Halal Food Festival
The only festival of its kind in the country. The London Halal Food Festival brings more than 100 Halal specialists to the historic Tobacco Dock. Chefs from all over the world will be offering an international range of cuisine, including delicious desserts. There’s also a mocktail bar, a shisha lounge and a theatre, where there’ll be celebrity masterclasses and Halal eat offs.

Junipalooza
The Tobacco Dock will also host not one but two gin festivals this summer. The first, Junipalooza takes place over the weekend of National Gin Day. A festival for those who take their gin really seriously, Junipalooza features more than 50 gin makers. You’ll be able to try more than 100 gins, and chat with the people who made them.

Gin Festival Summer 2017
Held over the August Bank Holiday, Gin Festival‘s summer edition is an even bigger boozy bash. The festival showcases some of the best gins from around the world. And you’ll be able to try a few exclusive varieties, not available anywhere else. There’s also gin masterclasses, cocktails, food and live music. The festival often sells out, so it’s worth booking in advance for this.

KERB does Alchemy
Known for their regular lunchtime street food markets, KERB are also holding a couple of tempting food festivals this summer. The first, KERB Does Alchemy runs alongside the Southbank Centre’s South Asian-inspired Alchemy Festival. Celebrating the cuisine of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, the festival features 27 street food trader. You can try food from both regular KERB favourites and new discoveries. There are also IPA and lassis bars, and Italian-style gelato to sooth your taste-buds. And there’s a Happy Hour every weekday between 5pm-7pm.When: Until 29th May

KERB Presents Noshville
KERB’s other big summer bash is a team up with the Maverick music festival for a weekend of great American flavours. Noshville will offer BBQ wings, fried pickles, mac ‘n’ cheese and cajun spice, alongside a soundtrack of American folk and alt-country music.

Meatopia
If barbecue’s your thing, be sure to visit Meatopia this summer. Taking place at the Tobacco Dock, the weekend-long festival takes the art of grilling very seriously. Each day a different line-up of 20+ chefs from leading restaurants will each offer exclusive dishes to try. With participants from Hong Kong and Cape Town, it’s a chance to try the best barbecue in the world.

The Hoxton Square Picnic
Mix it up at the Hoxton Square Picnic, which takes place over two weekends in June. Celebrating a London’s foodie hotspot, the festival will showcase the variety of cuisines available at the Square’s restaurants. Including the mouthwatering likes of Radio Alice’s pizza and Smokey Trails’ barbecue. Each restaurant will offer a select menu showing off their favourite dishes. And there’ll also be music and cinema to enjoy.

Carnaby Street Eat
Combining street food with shopping. The Carnaby Street Eat is a free one-day festival found in one of London’s most iconic shopping streets. A giant picnic table will stretch along the length of Carnaby Street. And more than 30 of the area’s restaurants will be offering exclusive dishes and bargain £5 tasters.

Fashion Feast
Food also meets fashion the following weekend in Covent Garden’s Seven Dials neighbourhood. Fashion Feast brings together more than 100 of the area’s shops, bars and restaurants. Expect special offers, fashion talks and makeovers. While a pop-up demo kitchen will present talks from the talented chefs behind the likes of Hawksmoor Seven Dials and Chick ‘n’ Sours. There’s also a Zen Garden and lawn where you can lie back and relax with a complimentary iced tea or cocktail.

Feria de Londres
A Thames-side celebration of traditional Andalusian culture, it’s no surprise that Feria de Londres has an amazing food line-up. Among the Spanish delicacies you can expect to find will be croquettes, tapas, spanish beer and cocktails. There’ll also be expert-led sherry tastings and masterclasses on paella and Jamon Iberico.

Great British Beer Festival
Organised by CAMRA, the Great British Beer Festival is the place for people who really know their real ales. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the show offers beers from around the UK and all over the world. So you’ll be sure to find something to suit all tastes. Especially as this year the festival’s expanding its street food selection and introducing a new section devoted to the best English wines.

London Craft Beer Festival
The seriously hip craft brewing scene also has a big festival of its own. Now in its fifth year, the London Craft Beer Festival will feature 45 breweries from around the world. You’ll be able to try the best from Copenhagen’s famous Mikkeller, or discover Maniba, all the way from Brazil. And, of course, local favourites like Beavertown and Pressure Drop will also be there. The food menu includes tapas from Morito and Middle Eastern cuisine from Berber and Q. And you can also enjoy a music line-up which includes DJ sets by Foals and Hot Chip.

London Oktoberfest
See out the summer with a traditional Bavarian knees-up at the London Oktoberfest. Inspired by Munich’s world-famous festival, London Oktoberfest brings a bit of its spirit to Canary Wharf. Naturally there’ll be plenty of Bavarian beer and food. Accompanied by oompa and schlager music. And feel free to get out your lederhosen.

Green Man Presents Courtyard
The days of suspicious sandwiches and cold chips at Britain’s music festivals are long gone. Many now offer food line-ups as exciting as the music. And this is particularly true of London’s own music festivals. Boutique Brecon Beacon-based festival Green Man is bringing back its King’s Cross-based spin-off, Courtyard, this May Bank Holiday. Celebrating the best Welsh breweries, the festival promises more than 140 beers and ciders to try. Alongside this, there’ll be performances from some of Green Man’s favourite bands – a great way to hear the next big things in folk and indie music. If that’s not your thing, you can still check out theatre, art installations, wine, cocktails and street food. And even a bit of traditional Welsh Twmpath Dancing.

Field Day
Victoria Park’s Field Day festival is the hipster highlight of East London’s summer calendar. Alongside possibly the coolest music line-up in town, the festival has three food and drink markets. More than 50 of the city’s food traders, including restaurants like Voodoo Rays and Le Bao, will be popping up in Street Feast and the Venn Street Market. You can also try London’s best craft brews – including Five Points Brewing Company’s exclusive Field Day Citrus Pale at the London Brewers’ Market.

On Blackheath
Organised in partnership with John Lewis, On Blackheath is as much about food as it is music. In addition to sets from Travis, The Libertines and De La Soul, the festival’s Food Village will feature award winning street food and craft beer from the nearby Meantime Brewery. While a food stage will host big-name chefs and celebrity guests offering talks and masterclasses.

Last Days of Shoreditch Riviera
One of several summer-long foodie pop-ups around the city, the Last Days of Shoreditch Riviera opens every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. The beach-themed spot in the heart of East London will have a selection of food stalls, including an Italian-themed Avocado Bar. A 50 cover restaurant will offer “high-energy, punk tapas”. While more informal gourmet dining can be enjoyed on the neighbouring terrace.

Brixton Beach
Pretend you’re soaking up the sun on the Cuban coast, despite being just a few steps from Brixton station at Brixton Beach. Throughout the summer months, the rooftop pop-up will host a several food-based parties, including the London Rooftop Taco Festival (8th June) – London’s first ever dedicated taco festival. And a big London streetfood name will takeover the barbie each Thursday.
