Best Western is getting its highest-profile hotel, in name and in height.
The Stratosphere, Las Vegas’ tallest building with the loftiest observation deck in the U.S., is joining the hotel group’s BW Premier tier.
Built on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip in 1996, the 2,427-room Stratosphere includes a tower that is 1,149 feet tall. Among the hotel’s attractions is the SkyJump, which gives intrepid guests the opportunity to don a safety suit attached to cables and jump off the building’s 108th floor to experience an 855-foot “controlled descent.”
The hotel also features Big Shot and Insanity (the world’s second- and third-highest thrill rides), an 80,000-square-foot casino and the Top of the World restaurant.
Best Western is also adding the 1,906-room Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin, Nevada, which is about 100 miles south of Las Vegas.
The two casino resorts are among the hotels that Golden Entertainment is buying as part of its acquisition of American Casino & Entertainment Properties. Golden Entertainment said last month that it would pay $850 million for American Casino, which also owns Arizona Charlie’s Decatur and Arizona Charlie’s Boulder.
Best Western, which has 4,100 hotels worldwide, launched the BW Premier tier in late 2015.
