Siva Ramachandran, Chief Commercial Officer, SriLankan Airlines Ltd, said, “Our heartiest congratulations to all of our Top 10 travel agents, who have been our valued partners for many years and play a vital role in supporting our country’s travel and tourism industry. We are fortunate to have such staunch support from our travel community and look forward to many more years of fruitful partnerships with each of these travel agents.”
India is considered as a key market for Sri Lanka on which Ramachandran added, “There is something extremely unique about India as a destination and it has grown phenomenally over the last couple of years in respect to tourism to Sri Lanka. We currently operate 107 weekly flights in India. Observing the current growth, we intend to grow to 135 flights by the middle of this year. We serve a substantial number of destinations and we will be adding three new destinations Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore. We will also be increasing our frequency to Delhi and Mumbai and aim to go double daily soon.”
The airline’s profit from India has grown by 14% compared for 2015-16 giving a phenomenal outlook ahead. “We expect to see further growth in the following times. However, this growth and revenue increase wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our partners in the business,” added Ramachandran.
