Skal International Hyderabad Club has won the bid to host Skal World Congress 2017 in the city. For the first time, an Indian city is getting an opportunity to host Skal World Congress which is scheduled to be held from October 5-8, 2017, at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC).
Amongst stiff competition from Toronto, Copenhagen, Stavanger, Miami and Bangkok, Hyderabad won by a whopping 136 votes as compared to its competitors.
As the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry, Skal International promotes global tourism and friendship. Its members, the industry’s managers and executives, meet at local, national, regional and international levels to discuss and pursue topics of common interest.
As part of the Congress, the group is whole-heartedly encouraging members to visit India and experience its rich culture and heritage and its world class facilities that in turn act as a catalyst to promote tourism to the country.
Several countries will be participating in the Congress including Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, South Africa, Switzerland, Spain, Fiji, Macau, Malaysia, USA, Venezuela, Turkey, Uganda, China, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Brazil, Chile and a host of others. A 25,000 sq ft area of pillar-less exhibition space to ensure that there is adequate display of the tourist destinations of India and that of others across the globe.
Vijay Mohan Raj, President, Skal Hyderabad Club, said that the opportunity for Hyderabad is the result of “many years of hard work.” “Who’s-who of Tourism world will descend in the city for the Skal World Congress. It is another feather in the cap of Hyderabad, all of us must feel proud,” he said.
