Florida-based regional carrier Silver Airways plans to reduce the frequency of its flights from Fort Lauderdale to six Cuban destinations, according to Routes Online.
The reductions will begin in January on five of those routes and in February on flights between Fort Lauderdale and Cuba’s second city, Santiago. The moves will come only four months after Silver began flying to Cuba.
Silver isn’t the first airline to reveal plans to reduce frequencies on newly established Cuba routes. On Dec. 2, American announced that in February it would reduce service to five secondary Cuban cities due to soft demand.
According to Routes Online, Silver plans to reduce its combined number of weekly flights from Fort Lauderdale to Camaguey, Cayo Coco, Holguin, Manzanillo, Varadero and Santiago from 29 to 16.
Silver had previously planned those reductions only during January and February, but has now extended them beyond Feb. 15.
The carrier did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday morning.
