Travellers from anywhere in the world may now visit the Seychelles, provided they have been vaccinated for COVID-19.
This is according to Minister for Tourism and Foreign Affairs, Sylvester Radegonde, who said travellers must produce a negative PCR test taken within the past 72 hours in addition to proof of vaccination.
Radegonde made the statement during a joint press conference with the Minister of Health Peggy Vidot.
“We hope that this will open up the tourism industry for the locals, primarily for the small hotels who are struggling on La Digue, Praslin and also on Mahé, and also provide the kick that our economy desperately needs,” said Radegonde, as quoted by Seychelles News Agency.
The publication also reported that, by mid-March, visitors to the islands would only need to produce a negative PCR test, as Seychelles would have vaccinated 70% of its local population, following the roll-out of vaccines initiated last week.
