Sandals Resorts has rebranded the Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa in Jamaica, and that’s not the only change.
The newly named Sandals South Coast is getting 12 overwater bungalows connected by a heart-shaped pier, along with other additions.
When Sandals earlier this month opened the company’s first overwater suites at the Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, the company said that similar units would be built at other resorts in 2017 and 2018.
Sandals didn’t say when the bungalows at the Sandals South Coast would be completed.
The resort also is constructing an over-the-water bar called Latitudes and an overwater wedding chapel with a glass-floor aisle. Brides and grooms will have the option to arrive by boat.
A floating swim-up bar called Bar-Tender will serve guests in the aqua waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Sandals already has upgraded existing restaurants and opened four new dining options: Sushi on the Sand, Beach Picnic, the Jerk Shack and Schooner’s, which serves Caribbean fare.
“With this relaunch, we have brought our most innovative ideas and concepts to absolutely reimagine the guest experience,” said Butch Stewart, Sandals’ chairman. “The results will embody the beauty of the region, embracing the beach and the surrounding waters.”
In recognition of the resort’s rebranding, Sandals is offering a complimentary Lover’s Rock catamaran cruise for guests who book a minimum six-night stay.
The 50-acre Sandals South Coast is nestled within a 500-acre nature preserve, approximately 40 miles south of Montego Bay.
