SAA has launched 24 additional non-stop charter flights from Johannesburg to the Maldives between April and October this year.
The decision is part of the airline’s turnaround strategy, says SAA Spokesperson, Tlali Tlali. “As part of the implementation of our turnaround plans, we are constantly seeking new and smart ways to manage costs, improve our revenues and bring more value to our customers. These charters provide an ideal opportunity for us to optimise on aircraft utilisation.”
An exclusive charter agreement between SAA, Air Tour Operators (ATO) and the Ministry of Tourism in the Maldives, has secured the non-stop flights between South Africa and the Maldives, with ATO and SAA combining to offer value-for-money holidays to a pristine part of the world that has previously been difficult to access.
