The Regency Group opened its newest hotel, The Regency Apartment Hotel, in Menlyn, Pretoria, on Thursday June 28.
The R350-million (€21.8m) ‘urban’ hotel was created to welcome both leisure and business travellers, as a lifestyle destination that offers both luxury and convenience. Managing Director of the Group, Siyanda Dlamini, says: “There is a growing demand for accommodation to cater for the busy Menlyn district, and we have created the ideal offering. The Regency Apartment Hotel is the ideal solution for both long- and short-term business and leisure travel. The Menlyn shopping and office district is a five-minute drive away, and OR Tambo International Airport a mere 35-minute drive. This means the hotel is also an ideal stopover for guests flying in to go to the Kruger National Park. The impressive 220-suite hotel in Menlyn will cater for a mix of local and international professionals, investors, and diplomats.”
Each apartment is fitted with a full suite of appliances by global brand Miele, as well as in-suite air-conditioning, free WiFi, and 24-hour room service. The Platina all-day dining restaurant offers fusion and international cuisine, with other facilities including a bar, bespoke gym, pool terrace and premium security.
There are also conference and meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 80 people. They are available for corporates on request, and there are plans to become a big player in the conferencing industry, says Dlamini. “Currently our facilities comfortably cater for conferences with a group of 80, however, we are in the process of building an adjoining facility next door to accommodate conferences of up to 250 guests.
“The Regency Apartment Hotels are a brand- new 100% South African developed concept and brand. Our group is all about growing the SA hospitality sector and challenging international brands that take a big share of the hotel pool. The apartment-style ‘home away from home’ hotel that includes self-catering is a massive international trend, and is becoming popular here. We have adapted and perfected this model. This will be the first of several Regency Apartment Hotels around the country, and we will hopefully be setting new standards and affinities for home-grown hospitality.”
