Quintana Roo, Mexico in Instagram photos

Quintana Roo, Mexico‘s eastern-most state, is the tourist hotspot of the country. It even recently changed its timezone so that tourists could enjoy an extra hour of daylight in the evening. That’s how committed to tourism this state is!

Many people flock to Cancun, which is a convenient entrance point with its large international airport, but if you’re after more of an adventure, catch the boat to Isla Mujeres or head south to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, or further afield.

Cancun

I'm not usually a resort kind of person, but we're staying at one for a week here in Cancun. Lazy Sunday afternoon by the pool, with this view = not bad at all, really.

Mayan ruins at El Rey in Cancun… I always find it strange to think of people going about their daily lives hundreds of years ago in places like this!

Isla Mujeres

Isla de mujeres is a great place for a day trip from Cancun! #doyouindie Q9: How can you practise travel caution without becoming paranoid? My answer is increase your security levels a notch or two by keeping your belongings locked up while still treating people as people.

Cenotes

Our adventure for today was to visit four cenotes, which are pools that are formed when bedrock collapses to reveal the groundwater below. We even swam through a cave with stalactites, it was awesome!
