Qatar Airways has launched a children’s flying club with the aim of creating a platform to interact with its youngest passengers; offer kids the opportunity to enjoy exceptional loyalty and programme benefits; and to generally make flying more fun.
The Oryx Kids Club is designed for passengers aged two to 11 and brings a fresh, new experience to children journeying with the airline. This includes new in-flight children’s meal boxes, which are more exciting, nutritious and varied; and the Oryx Kids Loyalty Programme, which affords value-added benefits while travelling, as well as the ability to earn Qmiles, which build up to redeem awards. Kids club members can also earn Qpoints, which will move them to a higher tier in the programme, along with related benefits.
A special section on the Privilege Club website gives children their own dashboard on which to interact with the airline, and view their Qmiles balance and travel history. Parents will play a key role in managing their children’s Oryx Kids Club accounts, giving parents and kids travelling together the opportunity to enjoy mutual benefits offered by the Privilege Club.
The club also has hero mascots, to help children identify more easily with the programme: ‘Orry’ and ‘Orah’ the Oryx and their three furry friends – Kamil the camel, Faaiz the falcon, and Farah the desert fox.
Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Marketing and Communications, Salam Al Shawa, said: “Flying with Qatar Airways should always be a fun and easy experience for families, and so we are excited to be able to launch our new Oryx Kids Club, making every flight with Qatar Airways even more enjoyable and relaxing for both parents and children. Helped by Orry and Orah, and their friends Kamil, Faaiz and Farah, we want to inspire and excite children when they fly, and make Qatar Airways the airline of choice for families.”
Later this year, Qatar Airways will send each registered child a free cuddly toy of one of the mascots, and an exciting new long-haul activity pack with fun games. “Our great new cuddly toys, brand-new activity packs, specially designed children’s meals and a new frequent flyer offering, the Oryx Kids Loyalty Programme, which are supported by an extensive range of existing products and services that we already offer, will make flying with Qatar Airways a seamless and fun-filled journey for every child,” concludes Shawa.
The airline’s home, Hamad International Airport, has already invested in its young passengers’ experiences, with dedicated children’s play areas and a Forumla 1 simulator in the play area, a Qatar Airways Duty Free Bumble Tree store, and a dedicated children’s nursery. Children travelling on their own will also have access to a special unaccompanied minors’ lounge.
