Ultra-low-cost carrier Norwegian Air will begin flying to Rome from the U.S. in November.
Service from Newark to Rome will launch on Nov. 9 and operate four times per week. Norwegian will begin twice-weekly flights from Los Angeles to Rome on Nov. 11. On Feb. 6, Norwegian will launch twice-weekly Oakland-Rome service.
Norwegian will compete with United on the Newark route and with Alitalia on the Los Angeles route. No other carrier flies from the Bay Area to Rome.
Rome will be the 13th European destination that Norwegian serves from the U.S. The carrier will launch flights to Barcelona, Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Shannon, Edinburgh and the Norwegian city of Bergen this summer.
