A free-roaming pack of 10 Wild Dogs was successfully captured and relocated to Lapalala Wilderness Reserve in the Waterberg in Limpopo.
The relocation was a joint effort by the Endangered Wildlife Trust, Lapalala Wilderness Reserve and Tintswalo Lapalala.
The dogs have adjusted well to life on the reserve according to Chief Executive of Lapalala Wilderness, Glenn Phillips. “So much so, that we are delighted to announce that the alpha female has produced a litter of pups. The birth of this litter of pups provides a welcome boost to the survival of this endangered species.”
Phillips said the dogs, who are currently in a boma at the reserve, will be set free into the reserve around the end of August, once the pups are strong enough.
The dogs can be seen on a live webcam which allows viewers an insight into the daily life and behaviour of the pack.
