While a lot of the posts on here naturally tend to be geared towards ladies, I try not to forget my male readers out there too. 46% of you are male, according to my Google Analytics, so I thought I’d write a post geared towards you guys
Backpacks
No more asking your girlfriend to put your wallet and keys in her handbag – this summer it’s all about luxe backpacks for men! Louis Vuitton, Prada and Givenchy all chose backpacks as this summer’s accessory of choice.
Next time you head to the beach, pack your towel, board shorts and sunscreen into a stylish backpack. As a traveller this is an easy trend to adopt – your backpack is now bang on trend!
Oversized shoulders
Thought that shoulder pads were left in the 80s? Well this summer they’re back. It’s all about jackets with oversized shoulders for that power-dressing vibe. Balenciaga chose to showcase bombers, overcoats and suit jackets all cut with extremely large shoulders.
Camouflage & Hiking Gear
Camouflage is a trend that seems to come and go, but this year it’s back in full force. The runways were filled with army-inspired clothing, although you don’t have to dress from head to toe in it. Purchase a staple camo jacket to add to your collection.
Hiking gear in general will be huge this summer, which is great for travellers. Big fashion brands like Prada chose to encorporate outdoor pursuits into their collections with wind cheaters, walking sandals and hats. Try adding a subtle hint to your wardrobe with some cargo shorts from Jacamo.
Cropped trousers
You might be paying a few more visits to the tailor this summer as trouser lengths are getting shorter. Cropped trousers and relaxed jeans with turn ups are very much in. If you want to be a little more daring, you can also try out the high-waisted trouser trend. Several designers had their models sporting high-waisted pants with rope details for belts.
Windbreakers and Parkas
Don’t forget to pack a windbreaker or a lightweight parka into your suitcase just in case things get chilly. These were spotted all over the runways in all different colours, shapes and sizes. A parka is perfect for those summer festivals when temperatures drop at night.
Yellow
Yellow is a colour that will feature heavily across the shops this season, so brighten up your wardrobe with a some yellow accents or a canary yellow T-shirt. The bolder the better.
