The Blue Train has finalised hygiene protocols in preparation for travel post-lockdown.
“A key part of The Blue Train experience is the social interaction between guests and, unfortunately, we are forced to a new set of rules for the new normal. For as long as we are dealing with COVID-19, some elements of The Blue Train experience will have to evolve for the health and safety of our guests and crew,” said Executive Manager, Vincent Monyake.
He said guests would be contacted several days before travel and be pre-screened numerous times. “We want our guests to step on board The Blue Train with the peace of mind that every precaution, as best we can, has been taken to ensure their safety.”
Measures put in place account for every element of The Blue Train experience, from booking to boarding.
When booking, guests will complete a pre-screening questionnaire that includes a declaration of COVID-19 symptoms and, should all requirements be met, confirmation of the booking will proceed. Should guests not meet the pre-screening requirements, the booking will be deferred.
All guests will be required to wear a cloth mask and sanitise their hands at available sanitiser stations.
At check-in at the pre-departure lounge, each guest will undergo temperature scanning. If the temperature is above 37.5 degrees Celsius, an on-board medical practitioner will attend to the guest. Once cleared, the guest will be allowed to proceed to reception for check-in.
A safety kit with three cloth masks, 50ml of sanitiser, wet wipes and three pairs of latex gloves will be issued to each guest after registration.
Measures to ensure social distancing in the dining and public areas have been put in place and an isolation car with two suites will be available to guests who present symptoms during the journey.
