Steve Loucks, Travel Leaders Group’s chief communications officer, is leaving the company on May 19. He tendered his resignation to CEO Ninan Chacko last month.
Loucks has been with the company for the past 18 years.
“Through those years, I have taken enormous pride in how far we’ve taken our company from less than $5 billion in annual sales to approximately $21 billion today, and I am proud of my team’s role in contributing to that growth,” he wrote in his resignation letter. “Given that our company does not actively market or advertise our brands, it has relied primarily on strategic public relations and communications to build and burnish our sterling reputation.”
Loucks said he has no immediate plans beyond Travel Leaders Group, and wished the company success in the future.
“It has been a sincere pleasure working with so many outstanding individuals within Travel Leaders Group over the course of the past 18 years,” he wrote.
In an email announcing his resignation, Loucks specifically thanked his team, including Kathy Gerhardt McCarthy, director of public relations.
“I also deeply appreciate Mike Batt and Roger Block for believing in me enough to bring me on board back in 1999,” he said. “And I can’t help but thank Barry Liben for placing his trust in me when he promoted me to chief communications officer in 2011.”
Loucks said Travel Leaders Group remains in the capable hands of a “constant core group of leaders who have been an integral part of the company for years,” including John Lovell, president of Travel Leaders Network, Leisure Group and Hotel Division; Block, president of Travel Leaders Network; and Jackie Friedman, president of Nexion.
