LAM Mozambique Airlines will fly between Lisbon and Maputo once a week from August 26, according to a press release.
The flight from Lisbon to Maputo will depart on Tuesdays at 20h00, and the return flight will depart Maputo on Wednesdays at 23h55.
Charmaine Thome, GM of Aviareps, which represents LAM in South Africa, told Tourism Update that as LAM had double-daily flights between Johannesburg and Maputo (when borders are open), passengers would be able to connect easily. The evening flight from Johannesburg will connect with the 23h55 flight to Lisbon.
Mozambican carriers were banned from flying into the EU from April 2011 to June 2017 due to an inadequacy in the Mozambican Civil Aviation Authority, which was then resolved. LAM is now listed on the Iata Operational Safety Audit (Iosa) registry.
Flights will be operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with 278 seats – 255 in economy class and 23 in business class.
