Aha Shakaland in Eshowe, KwaZulu Natal, is undergoing a soft refurbishment.
Baths have been replaced with walk-in showers, the rooms have been repainted and new linen and Nguni hide mats added. A newly revamped pool and furniture have been added to the lodge’s outdoor area. The buffet area in the Shisa Nyama restaurant will also receive an upgrade and the conference centre has an upgraded look.
In the Siyafunda Centre, dormitory huts that accommodate school and university groups, have received new bunk beds and floor tiling.
The renovations are being carried out in phases to minimise the impact on guests. “Since the huts are set in mini villages, construction in one village will have no adverse impact on the daily undertakings of the establishment,” said aha Hotels and Lodges CEO, Neil Bald.
The rewiring of the peripheral electrical fence and re-thatching of huts will take place during the upcoming KwaZulu Natal dry season.
