In a big day for commemorative aircraft liveries, Korean Air has confirmed that ten of its planes will display a special emblem to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The special livery will depict the number 50 with a plane flying over it alongside the slogan ‘Beyond 50 Years of Excellence’.
The number features a stylised taegeuk design.
Taegeuk is the iconic mark of the Korean Flag.
Korean Air will operate a total of ten aircraft with the special livery, two of each of the following aircraft types: Airbus A380-800, Boeing 787-9, Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A220-300, as well as two Boeing 737-8 MAX later this year.
Korean Air’s Boeing 777-300ER from Incheon to San Francisco was the first plane with the special livery to take to the sky on February 14th.
The other anniversary-themed aircraft will be added to various global networks of Korean Air, as well as domestic routes, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Korean Air on March 1st.
The emblem and slogan will be on the side of the planes until the end of 2019.
