On the heels of a successful showing at Caribbean Travel Marketplace and a stellar year of stopover arrival figures, the Jamaica Tourist Board director of tourism, Donovan White, has arrived at ITB Berlin.
While in Berlin, White is scheduled to meet with several European tour operators and airlines, as well as key media, to provide an update on Jamaica’s tourism product.
“ITB Berlin is one of the most important tourism trade shows of the year and key to Jamaica’s continued growth in Europe,” said White.
“With an aggressive growth strategy in place and an itinerary set to meet with key stakeholders, our goal is to increase airlift, expand the reach of Jamaica into new markets and further cement relationships we have in the marketplace.”
The destination has been pushing to increase stopover arrivals from Europe and last October, welcomed Pegas Touristik and Nordwind Airlines’ new nonstop seasonal service between Moscow and Montego Bay.
Jamaica has also eased travel restrictions allowing Russians to visit the destination without visas.
Since its founding in 1966, ITB Berlin is the world’s largest and leading travel trade show, bringing together representatives from a myriad of industries including airlines, tour operators, tourist boards, hotels, car rental companies and system providers.
Jamaica Tourist Board itself was recognised as the Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Board during the World Travel Awards Caribbean & North America Gala Ceremony earlier this year.
