Visitor arrivals to Indonesia have risen sharply in recent years, exceeding 10 million for the first time in 2015. This has been partially driven by the relaxation of tourist visa regulations.
“These significant achievements have strengthened Indonesia’s resolve to aim even higher by raising our goals and targets for 2017 to 15 million international arrivals and on to 20 million arrivals in 2019,” the Minister stated.Yahya added that the tourism industry is expected to contribute 11% of the country’s GDP in 2016, creating 11.8 million jobs.
