The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) organised a three-city roadshow in Mumbai, Jaipur and New Delhi. While the roadshow saw full-house participation, GB Srithar, Regional Director-SAMEA, STB, presented a review of how Singapore as a tourism destination faired in 2017. The figures were from January to October 2017, where about 1.1 million travellers from India went to Singapore. With the same, India now ranks as the top third inbound source market for Singapore after China and Indonesia.
However, for cruise tourism to Singapore, India is considered as the topmost source market. Singapore witnessed an average 17% growth year-on-year.
The Mumbai event took place on January 23 at Four Seasons where various stakeholders from Singapore representing hotels, airlines, integrated resorts, attractions, Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and cruise operators were present along with STB’s travel and trade partners.
Srithar highlighted that in 2018, STB is looking at deepening and extending partnerships and is likely to expand partnerships to tier-II and III cities. For this purpose, he confirmed that later this year STB would probably be organising roadshows and events in Ludhiana, Raipur, Ranchi, Patna and Coimbatore.
This year STB desires to creatively and effectively enhance ‘Passion made Possible’ and taking it forward and 2018 will be centred around the theme – ‘With Passion, Forging New Possibilities’. STB is also seeking measures to connect with five different segments in 2018 – families, working millennials, cruise, incentive groups and tier-II and III audiences.
