Iberia and Qatar Airways have signed a codeshare partnership to offer passengers more flight options and enhanced connections to/from Doha, Spain and Portugal.
This agreement, built upon the airline’s existing oneworld relationship, and effective from April, will offer mutual benefits to members of both airlines’ frequent flyer programmes – Iberia Plus and Qatar Airways Privilege Club.
Luis Gallego, president and chief executive, Iberia, said: “We are very happy to announce this codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways, one of our partners in oneworld.
“It offers our customers an extensive network to travel between Doha and Spain, as well as Portugal; seamless connections at the Iberia hub in Madrid T4, personal attention in every station, and, for our Business Class customers, the opportunity to enjoy one of the best European VIP lounges to wait for their flight.”
Iberia will market the two daily flights operated by Qatar Airways between Madrid and its hub in Doha, under its flight code, while Qatar Airways’ code will be added to Iberia flights from Madrid to 28 destinations in Spain and Portugal.
Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker added: “Code-share partnerships and airline alliances continue to play an important role for Qatar Airways and this new agreement with Iberia reflects our commitment to provide customers with the best service.
