Hong Kong has seen an enormous growth in tourists this year than in 2016 with an increase in the number of tourists providing hotel business in Hong Kong to thrive and injected the business with 89% hotel room occupancy.
This also helped in an increase of 6.6% in demand for hotel rooms in Hong Kong.
The high demand also enabled hoteliers to increase their rates. The average rate of hotel rooms jumped to 6.1% making it HK$1,213.87 (approx $155) in July. The revenue per available room (RevPAR) also jumped 9.4% to HK$1,081.14.
These figures also exceeded the Asian Pacific averages of 69.1% occupancy and $100 for the first six months of 2017.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board statistics also revealed that visitors’ arrivals from mainland China have increased to 2.3% in the first six months of 2017.
