I recently spent some time looking for a jacket that I could wear when I was out in the mountains and exploring the countryside. I knew that I needed something that would work well in the elements while also being comfortable and extremely durable. The Odin Mountain Jacket seemed to fit all of my needs and then some, plus it was only $50.
Water Proof & Wind Proof Jacket
The Odin Mountain Jacket has a Helly Tech Professional 3 Ply Shell which has enhanced Flow membrane technology. A Durable Water Repellency treatment has also been applied to the Odin Mountain Jacket. These features allow the jacket to be waterproof, windproof, and breathable, which is perfect for those windy and rainy days when I am out hiking a mountain or two.
Jacket Features
There are a few other features that I really love about this jacket as well. The zippers on the jacket are YKK Aquaguards, which means that I never have to worry about water getting through the zippers to the inside of this jacket or the inside of any of the multiple pockets. The chest pockets and hand pockets offer plenty of dry storage for those shorter walks in the woods.
The jacket has full mechanical stretch construction and it moves with you instead of being pulled and tugged along. There is an elastic adjustment on the bottom hem and the RECCO reflector will keep me safe if I am out later than planned. I think this will also serve me well in the summer during my sunset bike rides.

A Backpacker Friendly Jacket
I was concerned about being able to use my packs and harnesses with this jacket, but I have found that the jacket has been designed to be used with any type of gear. This reason was probably the biggest selling point to me as I wouldn’t have to go out and purchase any new gear.
Once I had made my decision, I went onto Altitude Sports to see if they sold the Odin Mountain Jacket. I had a feeling that they would, since they sell a huge selection of outdoor gear online. I was able to purchase my jacket through them and I received it within a few days.
While I have worn my Odin Mountain Jacket a couple of times already, I am really looking forward to using it more as I have a few longer hikes planned in the next month or so. It’s still a bit on the cold side to be wearing it often, but with Spring around the corner I’m sure this new addition to my backpack is going to be a great one!
