Heathrow beat all-time records in passenger traffic during the six months ended June 30th, with the airport welcoming 37.1 million passengers.
This is up 3.9 per cent on same period in 2016.
At the same time, new Flybe services and new long-haul destinations like Portland and New Orleans have enhance domestic connectivity and open new trading routes to British exporters, Heathrow said in a statement.
John Holland-Kaye, chief executive, Heathrow, said: “Heathrow’s strong start to 2017 is a boon for Britain – our passengers are getting better value and service, more British trade is flying high on new trading links and our expansion plans are on track.
“The government set us the challenge to expand Britain’s hub while keeping airport charges close to current levels.
“Working with airlines, we are making good progress to meet this challenge while delivering all our local commitments and the global connections our country needs.”
Revenue at the airport was up 4.1 per cent to £1,374 million, while adjusted EBITDA was up 6.9 per cent to £835 million.
This trend was driven by the renewed strengthening of retail momentum, the airport said.
