Year-end figures from Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority show an eight per cent increase in Abu Dhabi hotel guests when compared to 2015.
A total of 4,440,314 guests checked into Abu Dhabi’s hotels and hotel apartments in 2016, staying a total of 12,031,628 nights.
The hotel occupancy rate also remained high, at 73 per cent.
The UK remains the third highest contributor of hotel guests and the leading European market, with arrivals jumping three per cent year on year to 238,167, delivering 942,517 guest nights.
UK guests are also among those that stay the longest, averaging 3.96 nights.
The top ten inbound markets for 2016 were: UAE, India, UK, China, Philippines, Egypt, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, USA, Germany, and Jordan.
Ferrari World
At the same time, Miral has revealed plans to open 19 additional rides and attractions at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, as it aims to increase park capacity by 40 per cent.
The first will be a new rollercoaster, Turbo Track, set to open in March 2017.
Based on a Ferrari driver training facility, Turbo Track comprises a 180-metre track stretching from inside the Ferrari World building and out through a glass roof, reaching 62m above the park.
These projects bring Miral’s total investment at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi to an estimated £150 million.
