Fly Blue Crane plans to launch flights to Maputo by the end of the year.
The airline was granted 14 frequencies from Johannesburg to Maputo and 14 from Johannesburg to Manzini, Swaziland, earlier this year.
In May, Fly Blue Crane CEO, Siza Mzimela, told Tourism Update that the South African International Air Services Council had given its approval for the two routes and the airline was waiting to receive its foreign operator permits from both Mozambique and Swaziland.
The airline has since finalised all regulatory paperwork and expects to launch flights by the end of the year, but an official date cannot be announced as yet because “there are a few operational aspects that need to be finalised in Mozambique,” CCO, Theunis Potgieter, told Tourism Update.
He declined to comment on the status of the Swaziland flights.
The airline also announced plans to launch a Cape Town-Windhoek service earlier this year after a launch flight on 13 May. However, it has yet to introduce scheduled services and open ticket sales.
