Guests staying at Disney World hotels can now use their MagicBand and the My Disney Experience app to skip the check-in line.
Guests with an active My Disney Experience account who have paid for their rooms in full prior to entering the room are eligible for mobile check-in at all Disney World hotels. They can check in up to 60 days in advance. They will need to have a MagicBand bracelet sent to their home prior to their arrival.
The hotel will send guests an alert on the day of their arrival notifying them when their room is ready. Guests can then go straight to their rooms and use their MagicBands to enter.
Guests may still stop at the front desk and check in the old-fashioned way.
Also, Disney World has added restaurants that accept food orders via smartphone. Disney launched the mobile ordering service in May at Satu’li Canteen, a restaurant in the new Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.
The option is now available at Pizzafari, Flame Tree Barbecue and Restaurantosaurus in Animal Kingdom; D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs; and Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant, Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe, Pinocchio Village Haus and Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe at the Magic Kingdom. More restaurants will be added this summer.
At participating restaurants, guests can order food in advance on the My Disney Experience app by tapping on the “order food” icon. Food can only be ordered on the same day that it will be picked up. When guests want to pick up their order, they mark themselves as having arrived at the restaurant. They will be alerted when their order is ready.
Disney introduced the My Disney Experience app and the MagicBand bracelets at Walt Disney World in 2013. Since then, the bracelets have gotten a new look. Plus, the technology now can be worn as a lanyard or toted as a keychain accessory.
