Delta Air Lines cancelled nearly 250 flights this morning as it worked to reset its operation and get crews, aircraft and other operational elements in place to take care of customers.
The airline experienced a loss of power Monday morning that impacted operations worldwide.
Delta was forced to cancel about 1,000 flights yesterday due to a loss of power affecting its control centre in Atlanta.
“We were able to bring our systems back on line and resume flights within a few hours yesterday but we are still operating in recovery mode,” said Dave Holtz, senior vice president, operations and customer centre.
“We are sorry for what many of our customers have experienced over the past 24 hours, including those who remain at airports and continue waiting for their flights.
“We are doing everything we can to return our operation to normal reliability, but we do expect additional delays and cancellations.”
Customers traveling Tuesday should check the status of their flight, while customers can rebook their flight via the website.
The airline is also offering compensation to customers significantly affected by delays or cancellations.
In addition, where available, customers are being provided with hotel rooms and other accommodations if a cancellation requires an overnight stay.
