Peruvian company Delfin Amazon Cruises has launched a third Amazon ship, the 42-passenger Delfin III, the largest in the company’s fleet.
The recently completed vessel has 22 staterooms in four categories: suites, upper suites, corner suites and an owner’s suite with 180-degree panoramic windows. The public areas include an open-air sun deck, a plunge pool, a gym and the Rainforest Spa, where guests can receive wellness treatments inspired by local healing traditions such as volcanic stone massages and coffee scrubs.
A lounge area hosts cultural performances, Peruvian cooking classes and presentations with onboard naturalists as well as an onboard dining room.
The Delfin III will sail the Peruvian Amazon through the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, a protected flooded forest region. The ship is equipped with 15-person skiffs for further river exploration. The cruise includes hiking and wildlife spotting excursions, which aim to give passengers a glimpse of Amazon monkeys, three-toed sloths and diverse birdlife, among other sightings.
Like its sister ships, the Delfin III is outfitted with 16-foot, two-person kayaks for exploring creeks, tributaries and lagoons throughout the reserve.
Delfin is offering an introductory rate of $1,920 per person, based on double occupancy, for a three-night sailing on some departures.
