A total of 1.7 million tourists visited Croatia in the first four months of 2017, which is 22% more in comparison with the same period in 2016. The weekend’s flooding of visitors has further enhanced the prospect of 2017 being a record year for the Croatian tourism industry.
According to the data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 285,000 foreign tourists entered Croatia. Among them, a large number of tourists were from Italy, Austria, Slovenia, and Germany.
Records were also achieved at Split Airport recently where, 94 planes landed. In total, there were 23,000 passengers coming through the airport, which is a record in one day for 2017.
In May 2017, Split Airport welcomed 25.8% more passengers than in the same month last year. Zadar, on the Dalmatian coast, also saw record 7,000 tourists arrive by three cruise ships.
Last year 16.6 million tourists visited Croatia, and this year too, prospects seems promising.
