H.E. Nadir Patel, High Commissioner for Canada to India, hosted an evening with captains of the industry at his official residence in New Delhi.
Over 170 agents from all over India attended the reception, with some of them coming all the way from Ludhiana, Amritsar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad among others. Discussions were on issuance of visa, increase in air capacity, compression issues and key opportunities for growth.
During the meet, the Minister said, “It’s an opportunity to build on the work that my colleagues have been doing to build a strong relationship between Canada and India. For me, the relationship between the two countries is very important. We want the Canadian travel trade to work better together; and thereby create more opportunities.”
Chagger informed that this year is Canada’s 150th birthday and they want the world, especially people from India to visit Canada. “We will be working closely with Destination Canada- our marketing agency and the High Commissioner in India to ensure that every Indian here knows about our country and considers visiting it,” she added.
SanJeet, India Representative, Destination Canada, assured that Destination Canada-India will keep working on increasing the number of Indians to Canada and also help resolve visa issues. He informed that tourist visas are now issued till the validity of the passport.
