When it starts to warm up, New Yorkers need to get outside. Tables spring up on every inch of available sidewalk outside restaurants, back gardens re-open for brunch, and the Sheep’s Meadow in Central Park fills up with pale, half-naked New Yorkers. But this is a city that lives and dies by tall buildings, and any self-respecting native knows to look up for some of the best outdoor space around. Here are some of the best rooftops in the city for eating, drinking, and playing…according to what’s popular on Gogobot. And many are in cool New York hotels — which you can also book on Gogobot.
Metropolitan Museum of Art Roof Garden
Why it’s cool: Socialize with an arty, sophisticated vibe. It’s not always open so you have to be paying attention, which makes you cooler.

Why it’s cool: It’s in midtown but it’s still fun. What else do you need to know?
The Ides at the Wythe Hotel
Why it’s cool: Amazing Manhattan views and not too much pretension.
Plunge at the Gansevoort Hotel
Why its cool: Still trendy after all these years. This was one of the coolest rooftops in the Meatpacking at opening in 2004 and still is a fab-u-LOZ place to have a cocktail.
