The Baha Mar complex on Nassau’s Cable Beach announced its phased reopening schedule, beginning with the Grand Hyatt and the Baha Mar Casino on Dec. 17, to be followed shortly by the Rosewood Baha Mar and SLS Baha Mar properties.
The resort will reopen at a maximum of 60% capacity; the casino will have safety protocols and guidelines in place.
International guests must meet the entry protocols in place for the Bahamas as well as take a Covid-19 rapid antigen test upon arrival at the resort. The test will be free to guests.
The resort complex had initially targeted a fall reopening before it and Atlantis Paradise Island both pulled the dates during the summer Covid spike in the U.S. that also prompted the Bahamas to tighten its entry protocols.
Atlantis has not set a specific opening date, although a representative said it plans to open in phases by the end of the year.
The Baha Mar Commitment to Wellbeing program includes health and safety protocols that cover its onsite brands as well as the adjacent Melia Nassau Beach. The measures cover enhanced housekeeping and engineering, heightened food safety and digital ordering, touchless payments and contactless experiences.
“We are thrilled to welcome back our associates and share Baha Mar with our guests once again,” said Graeme Davis, president. “Our focus on safety, health and well-being is our number one priority and we have built upon the natural strengths of our resort to reintroduce signature and new guest offerings.”
During the resort’s temporary closure, more than $300 million was invested on upgrades to Melia Nassau Beach, the new Baha Bay Beach Club and Baha Bay aquatic experience, slated for completion in 2021, the Sugar Factory confectionary shop and additions to the resort’s retail offerings.
Grand Hyatt is accepting reservations for stays beginning Dec. 17 and has introduced a flexible cancellation policy that allows trip cancellations up to 24 hours prior to arrival.
The “Spectacular Awaits” package features the fourth night free when three are booked.
